Metropolitan networks

On the municipal territory there are several ‘public’ and ‘private’ networks. Each one ignores the existence of the other and in the worst case they bother each other for the resources. If these networks were able to cooperate there would be a remarkable saving of resources and a easier access for all the users (citizens, companies, PA).
Having separated investments there is a bad use of the resources: each network should be autonomous with the risk of a 'competition' and with a consequent worsening of the performances.

City

Making the network available in a widespread way on the territory requires not only a technological, but also a cultural jump. The technological answer is offered by the ‘wireless’ which allows to bring the connection everywhere via cable. For the cultural question a network overcoming the limits of traditional wireless networks turns out to be fundamental.
The devices equipped with N.A.A.W. software can be integrated in the urban furniture items, creating a widespread network on the territory and optimizing at the same time the costs for the network creation in a remarkable way.
The widespread use of N.A.A.W. on the territory is able to transform the networks which don’t communicate to each other or which are even in competition into a unique, big cooperative network, where the addition of wireless systems widens the coverage and optimizes how the wireless network works.

Integrated devices

In order to carry out the model described, in every place there are, besdies the specific sensors and actuators provided with control box, real IP routers able to communicate internallu trough Wi-Fi technologies and externally toword the system centre using several different Communication protocols.
The network system extreme flexibility is based on the fact that all the communications (local or remote) are serial, this means they are based on socket udp/tcp on IP.
The communication protocols are divide into two categories, according to the band availability and the system they are based on or according to the services availability or reliability.

The absence of broadband doesn’t prevent any activity. This is due to three elements:  

1°systems and sites network
The fact that all the systems and sites are provided with WiFi coverage enables the creation of an IP network between all the people who are radio accessible. This network allows to reach sites of the system with broadband, even though there is no direct connection.

2° intelligent and modular signalling
The system is designed so a to guarantee the same functions even when the network connections are not sufficient, reducing signals intensity and frequency, in other words buffering them.

3° Distributed system
The infrastructure based on IP networks allows the access to information even locally. The site definition is related to the presence of a sensors network on the territory itself.
